good but need phonetic translarions

the book is great for people wjo can read Farsi but it would be better if it included Phoneyic translations. Also, for you children it would the pictures are a little absreacr. Photos would be better. The secrion on the body is hard for even an adult to figure out what they are trying to depict. The animal page is wonderful and with a lack of English-Harsi books available it is okay.

Farsi dictionary for beginners

This has colorful drawings and the translations are accurate, according to the student for whom I purchased this item. However, it is less suited for middle school (my class level) and more likely to be used for children younger than 12 because it doesn't have photos. It is a wonderful picture book for the beginning English native-Farsi speaker.

About the Author
Garner Thomson, NLP Master Practitioner and Trainer, and founder and training director of the Society of Medical NLP, is the creator of the Medical NLP programme taught to doctors, allied health professionals and medical students since 1996. Trained in NLP by Dr Richard Bandler, and with a background in psychology, communications, Ericksonian hypnotherapy and trans-cultural and integrative healthcare approaches, he also runs a busy Medical NLP and Hypnotherapy practice, writes and lectures widely and appears on radio and television, both as presenter and guest. Dr Khalid Khan is a primary care physician and registered pharmacist. A GP trainer, tutor at King's College London School of Medicine and St George's University of London, he also practises as a medical acupuncturist, is a Fellow of the Chinese Medical Institute and Register (CMIR) and is an advisor to the International Journal of Acupuncture. Author of the popular Mnemonics for Medical Students and a Master Practitioner in both NLP and Medical NLP, Dr Khan is co-founder and primary care advisor to the Society of Medical NLP.

Chris LeDoux: Awesome Read

Chris was one of a kind. I had the good fortune to interview him for an article I wrote 20 years ago. He was so gracious and full of life. Being a working cowboy myself, we hit it off and remained friends. He was not only a great singer, great cowboy, and a great family man, but a great person, humble yet confident and gracious to anyone he ever met. Mr. Brown does a phenomenal job in presenting Chris LeDoux as he truly was. The writing is exceptional and at many times, one feels like they are actually there sharing the moment. Up and coming rodeo fellas will be inspired. This is a book for anyone interested in learning more about a really good human being. ~R. Justin Case

The Best Rodeo Biography on the Market

This is by far the finest rodeo related true story I've ever read. The writing is clear, concise, and to the point. Equally important, Chris LeDoux and the author pull no punches when it comes to saying it like it is. Triumph? Sure, but they included a few embarrassing parts, too, the times when Chris realized his ignorance was costing him during his "learning curve" early years in the sport. Example: Spend the time and money to fly all the way to California from a rodeo in Florida, only to find out the hard way that the bronc he'd drawn in the Golden State was a runaway waste of an entry fee? No problem; the reader gets to learn about that, including the part about the veteran cowboy who laughed at Chris's foolishness before he even got on the plane.

Such things are important for a biography to contain real red meat...and there is plenty of red meat between the covers of this book..

Those who have never paid the high price required to chase the gold buckle are sometimes stunned to realize just what it does take to become a World Champion in any rough stock rodeo event. During my contesting years (which predate Chris), it was not uncommon for the elite "wolves" of the sport to compete in more than 200 rodeos and cover more than 200,000 miles (in the air and over the highways) in a single calendar year. Gold Buckle Dreams does not identify the effort in those specific terms, but it's clear to any reader that only those who survive the crucible become the best in the business. As Chris makes clear, it's also about rodeoing "...smarter, not harder". Add to that the fact that bareback bronc riding is the most "jolting" event of all, and it's not something many of us are built to handle, either physically or psychologically.

Throw in the love of his life, the endless struggle to make a living both during and after his active rodeo years until the first Garth Brooks single mentioned "...an old tape by Chris Ledoux" and made all country music lovers aware of the musician we in rodeo already appreciated. Mix well with Chris's later health struggles, stir in plenty of humor and grace, and...yeah. This book definitely deserves a five star rating. I'd give it ten stars if they were available.

Most of all, if you're a reader who knows absolutely nothing about rodeo but would like to learn a bit, Gold Buckle Dreams is the one to read. You'll learn plenty...and if your heart is not touched by the end of the tale, you're not human.

Bought this book when it first came out and was thrilled to find it for my kindle. Now not only do I have his music to listen to, but also the story of his life....could it get any better? I don't thinks so.

Steve May (Ph.D., University of Utah, 1993) is Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a Leadership Fellow at the Institute for the Arts and the Humanities, an Ethics Fellow at the Parr Center for Ethics, and a researcher and ethics consultant for the Ethics at Work program at the Kenan Institute for Ethics He is co-editor, with George Cheney and Debashish Munshi, of The Handbook of Communication Ethics and, with Oyvind Ihlen and Jennifer Bartlett, of The Handbook of Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility. His organizational communication research has been published in journals such as Management Communication Quarterly, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Public Policy Yearbook, and Organizational Communication: Emerging Perspectives. He is a past Forum Editor of Management Communication Quarterly and Associate Editor of The Journal of Applied Communication Research and The Journal of Business Communication.

Dennis K. Mumby (Ph.D., M.A., Southern Illinois University; BA, Sheffield Hallam University) is Professor and Chair of Communication Studies at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Fellow of UNC’s Institute for the Arts and Humanities. His research focuses on the relationships among discourse, power, gender, and organizing. A Fellow of the International Communication Association and a National Communication Association Distinguished Scholar, he has published six books and over 50 articles in the area of critical organization studies, and his work has appeared in journals such as Academy of Management Review, Management Communication Quarterly, Communication Monographs, Discourse & Society, and Human Relations. He is past chair of the Organizational Communication Division of NCA, a six-time winner of the division’s annual research award, and a recipient of the division’s Fredric M. Jablin Award for contributions to the field of organizational communication.

Always good to get back to

This review is biased for two reasons.
1. This was the very first Communication theory book I encountered in comm grad studies. I'm sentimental that way.
2. It so happens I've met some of the contributors.

Having said that, this is an eminently readable (at least for most grad students) introduction to various theories in Organizational Communication. Especially useful to me were Taylor's essay on postmodernism, Deetz's on critical theory, and Ashcraft's on Feminism. I'm somewhat more critical of Poole's version of structuration theory, but in fairness that is one difficult theory and it takes several rolls of paper to wrap your head with. What's even more interesting is that the authors don't stick to theory (a very good editorial decision) but explore their personal stories surrounding their research interests.

So I tend to keep it handy, and not just for sentimental reasons either.

modern spin on an ancient art

I only recently became aware of the ancient Japanese tradition of "Katakuri" or mechanical dolls or automata. The examples I saw were carved from wood with cherry wood gears and were constructed by a Master with decades of experience...

-But wait! With this charming book you can construct paper models with your own hands that perform simple actions!

Apart from the four featured models there is also a series of mechanical gear movements that allow you to create motion that can be applied to your own original designs. The text is surprisingly thorough and detailed with interesting historical anecdotes on all of the mechanical systems featured.

The construction techniques are fairly simple and just to ensure you don't become intimidated with the details, there is an illustrated gallery of original designs created by High School students, so if they can do it, so can you!

Get this book! Get creative! -And even if you don't actually make any of the designs inside, the text is still a great read! Highly recommended!

Making Paper Move!

I was intrigued after finding this book on Amazon and decided to get it. I was not disappointed. From simple sheets of paper, a scissor and some glue, you can make some amazing creations. The author sets a great overview of basic mechanisms of pulleys, cranks, and levers. Then, he explains how these can be used to create these moving toys. The author gives many basic templates, and four already designed toy templates. He encourages the reader to create their own inventions. The magic of these creations are much easier to see after you create your own. For examples, you can youtube 'karakuri' and see some examples. For those who are meticulous and patient, this book can guide you to creating your own tiny moving creations.

A characteristic feature of self-adjoint operators is that their spectra are real, and many spectral problems in theoretical physics and engineering can be described by using them. However, a large class of problems, in particular vibration problems with boundary conditions depending on the spectral parameter, are represented by operator polynomials that are quadratic in the eigenvalue parameter and whose coefficients are self-adjoint operators. The spectra of such operator polynomials are in general no more real, but still exhibit certain patterns. The distribution of these spectra is the main focus of the present volume. For some classes of quadratic operator polynomials, inverse problems are also considered. The connection between the spectra of such quadratic operator polynomials and generalized Hermite-Biehler functions is discussed in detail.

Many applications are thoroughly investigated, such as the Regge problem and damped vibrations of smooth strings, Stieltjes strings, beams, star graphs of strings and quantum graphs. Some chapters summarize advanced background material, which is supplemented with detailed proofs. With regard to the reader’s background knowledge, only the basic properties of operators in Hilbert spaces and well-known results from complex analysis are assumed.
